The PTA is involved with every student at Midtown Elementary. Below are just some of the ways:
Transportation Tags
Every student at Midtown Elementary receives a transportation tag, telling all of the staff how the student will get home every day. The PTA supplies these tags to every student.
House Shirts
Midtown Elementary has 5 houses into which students are placed. Every students receives their first house shirt at no cost. The PTA purchases this first shirt for all students. The house program helps foster a sense of community within the school.
Back to School Bash
The PTA hosts the Back to School Bash in late August. Back to School Bash provides parents with an opportunity to get to know their child’s classmates and their families. This event helps foster relationships between students and families. Back to School bash features food, inflatables, and other family activities.
Valentines Day Candygrams
The yearly sale of candygrams serves as a fundraiser for PTA. It is a fun way for parents and other family members to send a special surprise to their student on Valentine’s Day. We also offer packages for an entire class.
Grandparents Club (Wisecats)
Wisecats is a PTA program which provides opportunities for grandparents to get involved at Midtown Elementary.
Personalized Art Projects
This program serves as a fundraiser for both the PTA and the art department. Student artwork is produced onto a variety of items such as coasters, mugs, Christmas ornaments, prints, and more which can then be purchased.
Fall Fundraiser
The Fall Fundraiser is the PTA’s largest fundraiser. It is done in the formation of a donation drive. Students can earn a variety of prizes based on the level of donations made in their name.
Tears & Cheers Breakfast
The PTA provides breakfast for Kindergarten parents as well as the opportunity to meet the principal, other members of administration, as well as other parents on their child’s first day of Kindergarten.
Reflections
The Reflections program is a creative arts competition sponsored by national, state and local PTA organizations. There is a new theme each year and students are encouraged to express their interpretation of the theme through art. The art categories include: dance choreography, film/video production, literature, music composition, photography, and visual art. Students participate in the Reflections Program by submitting entries to their teachers. Winners in each discipline can advance from the school level to the city, state, and national competitions. For more information visit http://www.ptareflections.org/.
Space Day
Each year, the PTA partners with the school to host Space Day. Students participate in various space-related activities such as a space parade, paper rocket crafting, virtual field trips and a visit from a traveling classroom.
Spring Fling
The PTA hosts a Spring Fling every year with food, games, and other family activities. This event is open to the public and is tons of fun! The Picnic on the Playground is a community event and is not a fundraiser for the PTA.
Teacher Appreciation
Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated nationally in May. We would love your help to help our teachers feel the Wildcat love! We will contact you and post on our Facebook page and MemberHub special ways to help closer to that time. We also need help weekly with duty-free lunches. These are days that allow the teacher to return to their room and catch up on emails, paperwork, and more during lunch. Look for a sign up from either your teacher or Room Parent to come assist the students’ class during lunch one day. Sometimes, you can even read a story to the class after!
